Making pasta is easy, but actually doing it is the key to authentic food, real togetherness and the search for honest inspiration.
I remember my dad making pasta with me as a kid. It was a nice ritual. Now I’m a father and I teach my kids to make pasta. They knead the dough and turn the pasta machine. When we make the pasta dough ourselves, my memories connect with the now. It is a very sensual experience: Getting the necessary ingredients, making the dough, shaping the pasta with the pasta machine, hanging it up to dry and then eating together: It is a wonderful ritual. I would therefore like to give my design draft for drying the pasta my father’s name: Gino.
The project not only consists of the design object itself, but is part of one of the most beautiful culinary rituals: pasta fatta in casa.
The pasta dryer is used to dry the pasta. It thus forms part of the preparation process. At the beginning there is always the search for information about the dough ingredients. Which ones fit and where do I get them? This information is offered on a website specially set up for this purpose. There are also references to the different types of dough and, last but not least, the right pasta sauces. The range of recipe ideas thus becomes the heart of the design process. People who choose classic pasta production are also interested in recommendations and a mutual exchange.
The product was developed for 20 servings of fresh homemade pasta. The compact design allows space-saving storage after use. The flexible pasta holding rods enable quick assembly and dismantling and individual use during pasta production. At the same time, the pasta dryer contains an applied QR code to access information about pasta fatta in casa: As a culinary gateway to the world of homemade things.”
